The Upcoming Makeover
In January, we’ll be making over the office which I’m super excited about it. It’s long overdue especially since this is one of the first rooms people see as they enter the front door. For almost two years now, it has had the leftover furniture that we liked and didn’t want to get rid of. It’s been a mishmash of decor really and something I just try to ignore as I walk by. Not ugly in my opinion, just not cohesive.
The New Look
I love to read and to collect books with pretty and interesting covers. So I’m thinking the office is in need of some bookshelves. I really like the texture and tone of the rustic industrial bookshelves. I want some warm wood tones to pop against the light Creme Brûlée walls and I think all of these inspirational designs would work well. Now I need to decide which look I want to go with.
Here are some of my favorites:
A wall of bookshelves from The Nerd Nest provides plenty of room for books and decor alike. The downside to this would be the many holes in the wall and floor. This would be ideal for the wall on the side of the office which has a very high ceiling.
Or this one from Design, Dining, and Diapers. I like this design for the wall over the desk, but done in an appropriate scale for the wall and desk.
Or how about this one found on Simplified Building? I’m thinking I would build two or three of these to sit side by side. This design probably has the most pros for me. It would be the easiest to make and it would be temporary and could easily be removed when it was time for a new style.
Or this simple shelving from 7th House On The Left. It would be the easiest wall shelving with a simpler design than the others. For my purposes, I think it would be need longer shelves.
So which style do you like the most? Do you think it’s possible to make our formal feeling office a little rustic?
