I love tarnished silver. I like that it looks old, but is still elegant and beautiful. I also like that it’s durable and will survive the worst Nerf battles ever. That’s important to me since we often host Nerf battles of epic proportions with the neighborhood kids.
Yesterday I came across the motherlode of silver trays and sugar and creamer bowls. It looked like someone had cleaned out their Grandma’s house and I was more than happy to add it to my collection even though I had to overcome my inner voice.
Here’s a look at my shopping experience…
I quickly asked myself if I wanted it. YES! Of course, I wanted it! What a silly question.
Then I followed it up with, “But do you need it?”
“All of it?”
Someone really needed to squash that little inner voice of reason.
Of course I needed all of it; otherwise how would I ever collect enough pieces to make a wall display like the one below?
So I loaded up my little cart then wandered around the store before heading back to that little section where…
…you guessed it!
They had put out more silver!
Stew finally gets home and I meet him at the door. “You have to check out my treasures!” Then I go on to explain about my potential silver tray wall display and I even show him an example.
There’s a bit of a long pause, but sometimes it takes him awhile to visualize my grand schemes so I wait…and wait… and then finally he says, “So, where do you plan on doing this?”
That’s not the right response my friend.
“Wherever I want” I tell him.
I’m not interfering with the fence he’s building on the farm so he shouldn’t be interfering with my glorious wall of silver trays.
In all seriousness I don’t know where I’ll put a wall display so I decided to make a temporary display in the kitchen.
I couldn’t find anything shallow enough to hold the trays, but then in the back of my Goodwill, “we’re saving it for a rainy day” closet I came across these decorative, floating wall shelves.
I flipped one of them upside down and wah-lah! It became the perfect holder for my trays.
The trays need to rest against the wall since the back portion of the shelf is too low to support them, but that’s our secret and nobody else has to know!
So what do you think? If you would like more ideas on displaying silver trays follow me on Pinterest.
